Golden Custom Home
Golden, CO · New build, two units
One house carrying two complete units on a steep lot — two full kitchens, separate entries, three levels stacked with decks between them. The lower unit had to be genuinely livable rather than a finished basement, which is a harder job to sequence than a large single-family house.
The name on the company
Matt Laffey
Matt started in construction at twelve, working alongside two uncles who built homes, and spent the next twelve years learning carpentry and framing on real jobs rather than in a classroom. He moved to Colorado in 2007, added tile, paint and plumbing to the list of things he can do himself, and founded the company in Evergreen in 2009.
“Custom” is the work — drawn for the site and the client, never pulled off a shelf. “Laffey” is the part that matters when something goes sideways on a Tuesday: there is one person accountable for the job, and he is on your site.
