Decks & Outdoor Structures

Composite deck running the length of the house with a steel railing and a valley view

Decks, pergolas, railings and stairs built for what the foothills actually do to them — snow load, sun, freeze-thaw, and the twenty-year test. Framing is where Matt started, and it's still the part of the work he's fastest at.

The deck work photographed here is multi-level, framed on a steep lot, with an exterior stair connecting the levels, a hot tub carried on the structure, and site stairs cut into the hillside. Hot tub load and stair geometry on a slope are the hard parts of deck building, and both are in these photographs.

Included

  • Site and grade assessment
  • Structural framing and footings to mountain code
  • Composite, cedar or hardwood decking
  • Railings, stairs, lighting and built-in seating
