Laffey Custom Construction is a family-run general contractor working across the Colorado foothills. Matt Laffey founded it in Evergreen in 2009. We remodel, we add on, we build decks, and we build a small number of new homes each year.

He came to it early. From twelve to twenty-four he worked construction with two uncles, both home builders, learning carpentry and framing on real jobs rather than in a classroom. He moved to Colorado in 2007 and added tile setting, painting and plumbing to what he could do himself — which is the reason he can tell you whether a sub's bid is honest.

For the past eight years Matt has also been a partner and site supervisor at A.D. Wolff Custom Homes, a Front Range custom builder working since 1980. The two companies share crews, standards and a way of running a job — including one worth naming: the client sees the real subcontractor invoices, and the builder charges one clear fee to build. A remodel here is run to the same standard as a custom home there.

We stay small on purpose. The subs we hire are local, they've worked with us for years, and the owner is on your site — not on the phone from another state. That's the whole reason there's a name on the company instead of a slogan.
